real wedding:: bright & colorful plantation wedding

Oh, Stephen and Jenn. I occasionally cry at the weddings I work, but this one was a particular tearjerker/emotionally-attached wedding:  the wedding of my brother-in-law and his high school sweetheart.

Despite the tears (in fact - the reason behind them), it was absolutely the happiest day. We were all beaming from morning until midnight that night. So much love came together to make everything absolutely perfect for the sweet couple and their Carnton Plantation wedding Memorial Day weekend.

Jessica McIntosh did a PHENOMENAL job photographing the intricacies of the day. We are all blown away by the portraits of these two -- aren't they just to die for? Jessica risked limb and life by creeping down in fields of flowers and greenery to get these shots -- and that was before we found the snake hanging out in the garden before the ceremony!

Jenn's bridal bouquet was absolutely gorgeous -- Cheryl's Flowers composed a beautiful arrangement of ivory hydrangea, calla lilies, roses, and peonies with a few pops of yellow.

Can anything really beat the natural beauty of this stately Southern plantation home? So lovely, especially at the "golden hour."

real wedding:: organic-modern chic affair

Oh my stars! This wedding, y'all. One of my all-time favorite weddings has been that of Hayley and Braxton: college sweethearts with impeccable style and hearts of gold. Hayley was such a joy to meet with over the course of her engagement -- we spent many a chai tea latte and laugh together going over the intricacies of her nuptial Kate Spade-meets-J Crew-meets-California-gorgeousness.

The gold mylar balloons we added in to incorporate their accent color and initials gave a special extra little something to their overall look.

Their first look/portrait session before the wedding ceremony was just incredible - I'm obsessed with that rustic earthy background at the Factory. Don't they look perfectly juxtaposed in their formalwear?

Lauren Atkinson of LMA Designs knocked the ball out of the park with these bouquets and the reception florals. I'm a sucker for loosely arranged pieces with garden roses, astilbe, and greenery!

The reception was held indoors, lit with twinkling string lights and a few pops of mint green. Centerpieces were varying heights of gold boxed florals, lots of greenery, and pretty calligraphied table numbers. Fruitwood chiavaris flanked the head table, set in front of the roughly frosted scrumptious wedding cake. Favors for wedding guests were individually bagged cake truffle pops, also made by Wolfe Gourmet Cakes.

real wedding:: blush & bashful formal garden party

Now that wedding season 2014 is in full swing, isn't it prime time to look at some pretty KDE weddings?! I'm starting off this series of real weddings with Alexa and Adam's gorgeous Steel Magnolias-influenced pink garden-esque wedding held at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.

Alexa and Adam were married August 31, 2013 at the Schermerhorn. Elements composing the design decor included swags of eucalyptus,  lush garden roses, long satin ribbons, and a crown motif (to echo the couple's new last name:  King!).

The ceremony decor was dripping with candles, rose petals, and an altar of stunning heights of florals. Adding to the flowers, of course, was the natural beauty and architecture of the Symphony Center. I die over all that marble and those chandeliers!

elated bride and groom ceremony

We surprised the bride and groom with a children's choir, which performed "Oh Happy Day!" immediately after the First Kiss. For pediatrician bride Alexa, it was a delightful surprise!

Passed strawberry lemonades greeted guests as they arrived for the ceremony. Cocktail hour included more passed treats, including a Pimms Cup signature drink and Texas-inspired hors d'ouevres to pay homage to the groom's heritage. The whole day incorporated a mixture of Texas and Canadian traditions to honor the families of the bride and groom!

The head table was the central focus of the reception with its long feasting table with candelabras, garlands, and crystals galore.

The three-tiered wedding cake was an absolute masterpiece, created by Dulce Desserts. Isn't that crown topper just divine?! After they cut that cake, we rolled out another surprise for the groom: A Steel Magnolias-esque armadillo groom's cake!

featured:: Vera Wang Unveiled:: brittany & jeff's real wedding

Words cannot express how excited I was this afternoon to see last year's full planning clients Brittany & Jeff's wedding featured on the Vera Wang Vera Unveiled Blog! Brittany and Jeff's wedding was one very dear to me -- not only were they some of the most WONDERFUL full planning clients I've had the joy to work with, they're also dear friends of mine from college years! Brittany is one of my sorority sisters (and one of the major reasons why I decided to go Greek:). While she has the looks and figure to make any dress shine, she looked absolutely dream-like in her perfect wedding gown --  Vera Wang's stunning "Velvet Roses."

Working with Brittany for over a year, it was evident from Day One that she didn't care much for the traditional "bride" experience. She wanted a FABULOUS party, chock full of a lot of people having a really good time. But as far as intricate centerpieces and trying on a thousand veils go, she had more important things to think about.

I think that's why the Vera Wang gown she decided upon was so perfect for her -- it was classic and stunning but not overly fussy or "bridal." It was figure-flattering on her tiny frame and had BEAUTIFUL little details (like the rosettes and tulle bow in the back) that left guests Ooohing and Ahhhing from every angle.

YAY for matches made in wedding-gown heaven!

Much thanks to Elizabeth Glessner for all the gorgeous documentation of the day!
