real wedding:: classic gilded elegance

Erin and Alfred had the loveliest classic Southern wedding at Second Presbyterian Church and Houston Station in Nashville, Tennessee. With monograms galore (be still my heart!) and traditions honored throughout the day, the Stewart wedding was resplendent with love and gorgeousness.

I absolutely ADORED the couple's alternative to the guest book. They had an illustrator paint a gorgeous depiction of their wedding chapel, which was matted and framed for guests to sign, to be hung in the couple's home after the wedding.

real wedding:: blush & bashful formal garden party

Now that wedding season 2014 is in full swing, isn't it prime time to look at some pretty KDE weddings?! I'm starting off this series of real weddings with Alexa and Adam's gorgeous Steel Magnolias-influenced pink garden-esque wedding held at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.

Alexa and Adam were married August 31, 2013 at the Schermerhorn. Elements composing the design decor included swags of eucalyptus,  lush garden roses, long satin ribbons, and a crown motif (to echo the couple's new last name:  King!).

The ceremony decor was dripping with candles, rose petals, and an altar of stunning heights of florals. Adding to the flowers, of course, was the natural beauty and architecture of the Symphony Center. I die over all that marble and those chandeliers!

elated bride and groom ceremony

We surprised the bride and groom with a children's choir, which performed "Oh Happy Day!" immediately after the First Kiss. For pediatrician bride Alexa, it was a delightful surprise!

Passed strawberry lemonades greeted guests as they arrived for the ceremony. Cocktail hour included more passed treats, including a Pimms Cup signature drink and Texas-inspired hors d'ouevres to pay homage to the groom's heritage. The whole day incorporated a mixture of Texas and Canadian traditions to honor the families of the bride and groom!

The head table was the central focus of the reception with its long feasting table with candelabras, garlands, and crystals galore.

crown wedding cake

The three-tiered wedding cake was an absolute masterpiece, created by Dulce Desserts. Isn't that crown topper just divine?! After they cut that cake, we rolled out another surprise for the groom: A Steel Magnolias-esque armadillo groom's cake!

my favorite wedding film of all time

I am such a proponent for hiring a wedding videographer! Nothing compares to video when it comes to reliving your wedding day. I have stunning photos scattered around my apartment (and one day will be living in an album to flip through), but there's no way I would ever be able to hear the conversations I had on our wedding day, listen to our spoken wedding vows, or see the ridiculous dancing that brought me so much joy the day we got married. Everyone says your wedding day will be a blur, and they're right. Taken from someone who's seen pretty much every angle of a wedding -- when you're the bride or groom, you miss things. We didn't get to enjoy our cocktail hour (since we opted to go upstairs for a moment to chill together instead), so we missed our friend playing violin and cups of champagne dished out from my mother's vintage Fostoria punch bowl. In the moments I spent dressing and waiting for our first look, I missed my husband cutting up with his dearest friends, making jokes (and screaming inappropriate words), and having his bowtie tied [by the one groomsmen who knew how...]. But through film, we got to see all of our incredible wedding photos COME TO LIFE. We saw more than just a split-second of emotion felt -- the tears, the laughter, the little jokes shared. And with FocalPoint's phenomenal movie-quality filming, our video clips (expertly crafted by Lynette McNeal) were/are ABSOLUTELY as realistic and high-quality as our photos taken by Kristine Neeley. Oh, it gives me chills. Here's just a tiny snippet, a hilarious little token from our wedding film. Thank you to Kelsey and Jon for stepping in and capturing our precious day. And thank you, Lynette, for pouring your heart and talents into this!!!!
